In a small, but grand, church, a young girl, dressed in a white robe and carrying several water jugs, walked out of a side door to the well nearby, filling up the jugs of water. She cherished the peace and quiet of filling the water jugs. For once, no one was nagging her to do anything, or to stay out of sight, or even her father, the lord of the province, saying that she should be married off before no one would want her anymore. The girl narrowed her eyes, and kicked a jug which was resting on the side of the well, breaking it. The girl swore and bent down to pick the shards of the broken jug, hoping the head preist hadn't heard her.

clapping was heard from the pew. a man stood up and smiled to her. "nice job" being sarcastic as he walked over and looked at the broken jug. "better pick that up before someone sees what happened."

"Yeah, it's what I'm trying to do." Jayde said, not looking at the stranger. "The church service isn't for an hour. And all the preists are out now, so you'll be waiting a while before one comes back" She said, almost automatically, picking up the last piece and straighteneing up.

"Hi" Jayde said, gathering up the pots. "Forgive me for not curtsying, but I have to get a new pot before the preists come back, or I'm in big trouble. Can I help you with anything?"

the man shrugged "not really. what about you? you need anything?" he looked to her, managing to catch her eyes. he didn't use his power on her, but his eyes were entrancing enough on their own.

"Me?" She looked up, caught by his eyes. "Uhh.. nothing really" She suddenly felt lightheaded, and looked away. "So what is this you've come for?" She asked, walking past him to the back of the church, placing the jugs down on the back table.

"Jayde" Jayde said, sort of bowing. She hated to curtsy. "And your name is?" She still wouldn't look at him. She was taight that it was polite not to look at a man directly, it was disrespectful. Not that she cared, but this guy may be important.

he looked into her eyes, his gaze strong yet somehow soft as he looked directly into her eyes, still not using his power. he didn't intend to. "don't sell yourself short, it's a pretty name" smiling at her with a kind smile.

"Uhh.. thankyou" Jayde managed to say. Her mouth didn't seem to work properly anymore. She couldn't seem to look away either.

edgar gazed deeper into her eyes so she was trapped, then turned his head away. "so, an hour till the service eh? how come you're here so early then?" mainly making conversation.

She felt dazed, and shook her head slightly to clear it. "I sort of live here" She said. "You know, a live in serving girl"
