kristoph walked through the streets of a small town. the stores and homes around were made of stone here, though some poor families still had their thatch and straw homes. he walked with his cloak around his body and his hood over his head. his idedtity, he wanted to keep a secret for now. his tails he had wrapped around his waist like a belt, trying to hide his race as well. he looked around for a place to get some food... though he was completely and utterly broke.

Kali was sitting, leaning against a wall, gnawing on a piece of bread she had stolen from a bakers stand. She saw the hooded stranger walking down the street and watched him warily. No one here was to be trusted. She pulled her feet out of his way as he went past and tried to catch a glance, her suspicious green eyes gewtting nothing. The hood was made too well. The small veil of darkness that had been floating around her, to block out most sunlight, but so faint that no one would see it unless they looked too carefully, didn't help either, blocking some of her vision. She made a disappointed noise and continued to eat the hunk of bread in her hands.

kristoph looked to the girl, though the only thing visible was the outline of his face and his eyes gleaming with the little light available. he stopped and turned to her, his face completely invisible besides what's said. "want something?" hearing the sound she made. his ears picking up more sounds than any human could.

"I could ask you the same thing" She said, her free hand straying to the dagger strapped to her ankle almost unconsiously. "Been a while since someone dressed liek you came to this place"

his hands were both invisible under his cloak, as he looked to her with his gleaming eyes. "i have my reasons..." looking to her. the sound of footsteps was heard a way off. he looked in their direction, then to her. "we'll have to continue this later..." as he darted off in the opposite way of the footsteps. he darted down the street and into another alley.

"Yeah, see you, mister trippy eyes" Kali finished off the bread and thought it wise to disappear as well, those footsteps could belong to anyone, especially the authorities. She stood up and nearly doubled over with hunger pangs. That bread was the only thing she'd had in a week. She recovered quickly and ducked into a different alley, her bare feet splashing in the water that nearly covered all of the ground of the alleyway. She ducked behind a pile of garbage and peeked out. A mob of people ran past the mouth of the alleyway. "He was here somewhere! I saw him!" The man at the lead of the mob yelled. The rest ran after him, purely in it for the chase.

kristoph was suddenly behind her, as if hiding behind her. he was knelt behind her and looked over her shoulder to the group of people. "fuck... shouldn't have stole that..." as soon as they passed he sighed and sat down against the wall, as if releaved. the light of him looking up revealing a large chunk of his face.

"How the hell did you get there?" Kali said, jumping to the side, pulling her dagger from its sheath and concealing it with the shape of her arm in suprise. Her shock faded fast, but suspicion stayed. "You didnt take long to get into the general public's good books, did you" She smirked and stood up, her dagger in full view, holding it casually in her right hand.

kristoph stood casually and tilted his head "i stole something from the archives... kinda gets on their bad side... ya know?" he smirked, as if proud, though only the outline of his smile visible "so how come you're holding that?" touching the tip of the dagger casually.

"Because anyone here can kill you" SHe stated, stepping backwards defensively, the point of her dagger pointed at the ground. "And until you know that, you'll never be safe." She stared at him suspiciously.

kristoph sighed "fine... as a measure of good will..." he took off his hood, revealing his face and full features. "happy?"

"Slightly." She sheathed her dagger. "Stolen from the archives? Didn't take you long." She glanced at his face. "And you'd better put that hood up too. They'll be looking for you and the less amount of people who see you, the better." SHe kept her distance. He may seem harmless at the moment, but all that can change, she knew.

he nodded and put his hood up. ducked down, pulling her down with him as someone came by and checked the alley, then left. "hungry?" saying casually as he smiled. "i know this great place at the end of town..."

Before she could open her mouth, her stomach rumbled. "I'm stoney broke" She said, putting her hands in the pockets of her trousers. "And I thought you were new here, since when did you know places?" She looked at him carefully. His story wasn't evening out.

he chuckled. "it's an easy way of saying 'i saw a cheep diner when i came in'" smirking and standing, looking out of the alley "ok, they've passed."
